Important information about booking, staying and visiting The Griffin Newquay.
When an accommodation booking is made directly with The Griffin and confirmed by us, the person making the booking enters into a contract with The Griffin and agrees to the Terms & Conditions applicable to that booking.
Where accommodation is booked through an online travel agent or other third party, the conditions displayed by that provider may also apply.
Booking policies and rates may vary. Any deposit, advance payment or balance requirements will be shown or communicated before the booking is confirmed.
Bedrooms may not be ready until 2:00pm on the day of arrival.
Check-out is 10:00am Monday to Friday and 10:30am on weekends and Bank Holidays.
Guests arriving early are welcome to enquire about using available hotel facilities and the car park before their bedroom is ready.
If guaranteed access to a bedroom is required before normal check-in, it may be possible to reserve the room for the preceding night at the applicable additional room rate, subject to availability.
Where a guest remains in a bedroom beyond the applicable check-out time without an agreed complimentary extension, the following charges may apply:
Late check-out requests are subject to availability and should be agreed with The Griffin in advance wherever possible.
The Griffin is a licensed premises. Guests under the age of 18 may only stay at the hotel where they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
We welcome small group bookings and The Griffin is particularly popular with golfing, fishing and other leisure groups.
Direct group bookings may be subject to additional terms, deposits, payment schedules or cancellation arrangements depending on the size and nature of the booking.
We are unable to accept stag or hen party accommodation bookings, as these may affect the experience of other hotel guests.
If a booking is identified as a stag or hen party after being made, please contact us. We reserve the right to cancel a booking where it falls outside the type of accommodation booking we accept, subject always to applicable consumer law and the circumstances of the booking.
Group bookings made through third parties may be subject to separate conditions agreed with that provider.
Guests and their visitors are expected to behave reasonably and respectfully towards our team, other guests, neighbours and property.
Threatening, abusive, dangerous, seriously disruptive or illegal behaviour will not be tolerated.
Where serious behaviour makes it unreasonable or unsafe for a stay or visit to continue, The Griffin may refuse further service or ask the person concerned to leave.
Where a guest's conduct causes The Griffin a direct and reasonable financial loss — for example damage to property or reasonable compensation that we have had to provide to another guest — we may seek reimbursement of that loss.
Guests are responsible for taking reasonable care of bedrooms, furnishings, fixtures and other Griffin property.
If deliberate or negligent damage, significant soiling, smoking in a non-smoking bedroom or another action results in reasonable cleaning, repair, replacement or room-closure costs, The Griffin may seek reimbursement from the responsible guest or booking party.
Typical guide charges
The amounts below reflect examples of charges that may
apply. The actual amount charged will depend on the
circumstances and reasonable cost or loss incurred.
| Issue | Action Required | Typical Charge |
|---|---|---|
| Mattress soiling | Professional mattress cleaning / room treatment | From £50 |
| Mattress requiring replacement | Replacement mattress | From £100 |
| Bedding soiling beyond normal laundering | Bed linen replacement | From £50 |
| Carpet soiling | Professional carpet cleaning / room treatment | From £50 |
| Smoking in a bedroom | Deep cleaning and room treatment | From £100 |
If the actual reasonable cost of repair, replacement, specialist cleaning or loss of room use differs materially from these guide amounts, the amount sought may reflect the reasonable loss actually incurred.
Unless different cancellation terms were clearly stated when your direct booking was made, our standard cancellation policy is as follows:
More than 48 hours before arrival
Direct bookings cancelled more than 48 hours before the
scheduled arrival time can normally be cancelled without
a cancellation charge. Payments made towards the booking
will be returned to the original payment method where due.
Less than 48 hours before arrival
Where cancellation is received within 48 hours of arrival,
a charge equivalent to the first night of each affected room
may apply, subject to the circumstances, the applicable
booking terms and consumer law.
A material change of arrival date or shortening of a reservation within the 48-hour cancellation period may be treated in the same way as cancellation of the affected night or nights.
Direct cancellation requests should be made in writing wherever reasonably possible so that both you and The Griffin have a clear record of the request. Email us at info@griffin-newquay.co.uk .
We recommend appropriate travel insurance where cancellation could result in financial loss.
Reservations made through online travel agents or other third-party booking services are subject to the cancellation, payment and amendment conditions shown by that provider when the reservation is made.
Where the third-party provider controls the reservation, changes or cancellations should normally be made directly through that provider rather than through The Griffin.
Where a guest does not arrive for a confirmed reservation and has not cancelled in accordance with the applicable booking conditions, a charge may apply in accordance with the booking terms and applicable consumer law.
Where The Griffin prepares a golf or fishing tour proposal, accommodation may be provisionally held for up to two weeks from the date of the proposal unless otherwise stated. After that period, availability cannot be guaranteed.
Golf tee times or other third-party elements shown in a proposal are subject to availability and cannot normally be guaranteed until the relevant booking and payment have been confirmed.
We may request full or partial payment to confirm a golf or fishing tour.
Different elements of a tour may have different cancellation terms because some services are supplied by independent third parties.
Golf elements may, for example, be non-refundable once confirmed depending on the golf club's own booking conditions, except where that supplier provides a refund or other remedy.
Griffin accommodation booked directly as part of a tour will normally follow the cancellation conditions stated in your proposal or booking confirmation.
Where a change of date is requested within a cancellation period, we may offer an alternative date at our discretion and subject to availability, but cannot guarantee that a date change will always be possible.
For help confirming a golf or fishing proposal, please call 01637 874067.
The Griffin welcomes well-behaved, house-trained dogs in designated dog-friendly bedrooms and permitted areas of the property.
The current accommodation charge is £8 per dog, per night, unless a different amount is stated as part of your booking.
Dogs should be kept under appropriate control and on a lead in public areas where required.
Dogs should not be left alone in bedrooms for extended periods and owners remain responsible for their dog and any unreasonable damage, soiling or disturbance caused.
Assistance dogs are accommodated in accordance with applicable equality law and are not treated as pets for these purposes.
Free, limited on-site parking is available for hotel guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
A parking space cannot be guaranteed unless expressly agreed.
Vehicles and belongings left within them remain the responsibility of their owner, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
Maintenance, improvements and changes to our building, facilities or grounds may occasionally take place throughout the year.
We will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption and, where a material facility included as part of your booking becomes unavailable, we will consider what reasonable alternative or remedy is appropriate in the circumstances.
Certain disruptions may arise from circumstances outside our reasonable control, including interruption of utilities or public services. Nothing in these terms limits any rights or remedies you may have under applicable consumer law.
Special offers and promotional rates are subject to availability and any conditions stated with the offer.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, different promotions cannot normally be combined.
An offer may be withdrawn or changed for future bookings, but this will not retrospectively remove an offer already incorporated into a confirmed booking.
Prices displayed on our website or provided in a quotation are correct to the best of our knowledge when published or supplied.
Prices for future bookings may change according to availability, dates, room type, demand and other relevant factors.
Once a booking has been confirmed, the agreed price will not normally change except where permitted by the booking terms or law, for example where a relevant tax or statutory charge changes.
Restaurant and table bookings are subject to availability. Please arrive as close as reasonably possible to your reserved time and contact us if you expect to be significantly delayed.
Larger parties, private functions or special events may be subject to separate deposit, payment or cancellation conditions, which will be communicated before confirmation.
If you have a food allergy, intolerance or significant dietary requirement, please tell a member of our team before ordering.
We recommend informing us when booking wherever possible so that our team can discuss your requirements with you.
Our team can provide information about ingredients and allergens to help you make an informed choice.
The Griffin may decline a booking before it is confirmed.
After confirmation, we will only cancel, refuse service or terminate a stay where we have a reasonable and lawful basis to do so, for example serious misconduct, safety concerns, fraud, an invalid booking or circumstances making it impossible to provide the booked service.
Any payment or refund consequences will depend on the reason for cancellation and applicable law.
If a guest seriously breaches these Terms & Conditions, The Griffin may take reasonable action appropriate to the circumstances.
This may include asking a guest to stop the behaviour, seeking reimbursement for reasonable losses, refusing further service or, where justified, requiring the guest to leave.
Any amounts retained or sought following a breach will be considered in accordance with the circumstances and applicable consumer law rather than operating as an automatic penalty.
We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with our legal obligations.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where the law does not permit such liability to be excluded.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Information about how we collect and use personal information can be found in our Privacy Policy.
Information about cookies and similar technologies can be found in our Cookie Policy.
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in these terms affects any rights a consumer may have regarding the court or jurisdiction in which a dispute may properly be dealt with.
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our services, booking arrangements or legal requirements.
The latest version will appear on this page. Existing confirmed bookings will also be considered against the terms and information supplied when that particular booking was made.
If you're unsure about any part of these Terms & Conditions or would like to discuss your booking, please contact our team.
