We are living in strange times, COVID has had a big impact in the way that hospitality businesses operate and the knock on effect of COVID has meant that there is a nationwide staff shortage in our sector. This, coupled with a high footfall of holidaymakers in our area this year, has presented many new challenges for our dedicated staff.
Firstly we ask for your patience, understanding and kindness. We are doing our best to look after you but we are not always able to provide the speed and standard of service that we would like to, due to the complex web of challenges that COVID has presented.
We are continuously adapting to what we feel is the safest way to operate our business for staff and guests alike. This means that we may not be able to accept advance table bookings, some sections of our restaurant will be closed occasionally, sometimes we have to close the kitchen for a day to give our chefs a day off, we are not always able to pick up the phone. Please understand that these inconveniences are the result of real challenges that we are doing our best to overcome.
We look forward to warmly welcoming you back, please take note of the safety information below relating to our COVID compliance procedures to help ensure that your visit is a safe one.
We have reduced the number of tables in our restaurant by half to allow for social distancing between them. Please be aware that most days we will be offering outside tables only to non-residents. There is a separate entrance for hotel guests.
You’ll find full-size perspex screens at our bar and around Reception for the safety of both our customers and staff. Our carvery has been able to resume with your choice from the hot buffet, served from behind a wall of perspex screens by one of our chefs.
We invite you back to the bar, just like the good ol’ times! Feel free to pop along and order your food and drinks at the bar, there are safety screens in place for everyone’s safety. We are currently not able to offer you a bar stool so please choose a table to sit at.
There are sanitation stations across our bar restaurant and hotel, next to all the entrances and main routes through the building. We politely ask all staff, visitors and residents to sanitise on their way in and out of the building.
We are deep-cleaning and sterilising bedrooms, public areas and facilities between each use so please bear with us if it takes a little longer than usual to prepare your room or table. Occupied bedrooms are only cleaned upon request since we do not want to presume that you feel safe about staff members going into your room.
We have relaxed our mask policy. You’ll see most of our staff wearing one and we invite you to do whatever makes you feel safe and comfortable in respect of face coverings. We keep out pub and public areas of the hotel well ventilated so that it feels like a safe space for all patrons.
For great food, friendly accommodation and delicious local ales come to the Griffin Inn, Newquay, Cornwall.
The Griffin is a family run pub, hotel, B&B and has been under the same ownership since 1991.
